The Pot I Got
A plant in a pot so fantastic
I watered for months like a spastic
'till the day that I found
to its pot it was bound -
that plant had been molded from plastic!

Affected Art Baby Sitter-
Flickered fingers;
Can't dial ringers;
Telephone calls;
Babies cry and crawls;
what do you do?
what do you do?
When their diapers fall?...

Slow Golf
Golfers ahead were really slow
because their dead balls just wouldn't go
we offered them beer,
later we found cheer--
they stepped aside to let it outflow.

My Pet Monster
My pet monster
best friend I ever had
through all the good times
and even all the bad
we walk the streets together
some people gawk and stare
when you moan "hi" to them
it gives them quite the scare
I don't mind when you drool
and your eyes roll in your head
your still totally cool
and always welcome in my bed
and when your limbs and tail
fall off and need repair
I can stitch them on again
I will always be right there

Banana Bread
Today my husband said ' I can really go for some banana bread'
But this is what I made instead.
A gallon of Sweet Tea.
A bowl of Green Pea's.
Turkey Club on whole wheat followed by Smoked Meat.
Corn on the Cob along with Broccoli Raab.
Chicken Wings. Shoe Strings.
Pineapple upside down cake. A chocolate Shake.
Baked Potato served with a Stuffed Tomato
Now my husband has a belly ache.
I don't think he likes it, when I bake.

Pointing Fingers
You are one of the reasons
Why they inflate their quote
If you had seized the seasons
Good men could have had your vote
You are one of the reasons
Why our sweet land has gone sour in waste
Here is one of your multiple treasons
You aid corruption just to suit your taste
You are one of the reasons we wedge weighty wrath
Bombs daily detonate like fickle fireworks far north
You decided to do nothing but shut your mouth
So they took our weary sail south
You are one of the reasons the land is inflicted with rape
Overflowing in abundance yet you mong like a greedy ape
Alas our land is grey and old but not due
And it hurts me to know that I am also you.

The Dumbest, Smart Man
The dumbest, smart man
Has bent his last bow
Common sense he was lackin’
But, intelligent, no doubt
His I.Q. was genius
Human nature was low
So much still to learn
But, for him, time to go
He tought me mechanics,
Math, history, and how to fight
Now his fighting days are over
He went on wading to the light
So, I have a prayer
Dear God, it is for you
Please look after my Daddy
As I wish I could do
And thank you for the time
Well spent by his side
I will never forget
The way he lived with pride

April the Giraffe
There was a giraffe in a zoo
Named April, and she ate for two.
For, pregnant she was-
Spectators abuzz!
And soon little hooves peaked right through!
In minutes he fell to the ground-
So perfectly healthy and sound!
His mom cleaned him well-
He stood- and then fell.
But soon he was walking around.
Though she and the Vet got along
Took care of her well all year long-
But touching her calf-
Scared mama giraffe
To kick him where kicks don't belong!
A mom is as fierce as can be
When guarding her new-born, you see
Although there is trust-
Hands-off is a must!
The price you will pay, can't foresee!

Maturity
Two prates,
sick paste,
wanton waste,
yet terrible brain.
One more way,
for me in the daze,
then the song with the wait,
then the bong and your faith-
yes it's gone,
but no you're still to gait-
you're still to frame,
you're still to blame.

My Only Good Poetry
While preparing 1001 soups
For the last night of this year
I wrote a poem,
My only good poetry, ready to win the 1st Prize;
But I dropped it in…Soup.

The Caregiver
I am sitting
In my electric wheelchair
Attached to the oxygen tank
In the old age home
Thinking about sex
I think
Therefore I still am
And maybe
Just maybe
With God’s help
I’ll get lucky

He Needs Depends
Attention, attention! Paging Dr. Death
Your appointments here may I send them in
Go on you will see the sign it reads “fin”
Please, all the way down the last door on the left
The doctor will help you complete your quest
Welcome my dear, relax remove your pin
Take off your clothing place it in the bin
Now lay down shut your eyes take a deep breath
Euthanasia come on down bring a friend
Comatose no worries if are you his wife
Yes I am he’s had a wonderful life
I’m sure he feels it’s a means to an end
No longer will I have to deal with the strife
Or the underwear he wears he needs depends

Mama
Mama
I was only five years old,
getting my hair pressed for the first time.
I heard my mother’s voice.
She was reading to me as she was pressing my hair.
Mama always called me “my-Esha”.
She was so kind a woman.
She still is.
All the people I knew as friends called me Esha.
My family did too.
Mama would wash my hair and then press it.
The pressing comb would get very hot.
The sides would singe with steam and heat from the pressing comb.
The back of my hair was my least favorite part to get pressed.
She knew it and we joked about it when she was threw fixing my hair.

Bald Love
The shallow water at our feet
Grains of sand reflecting heat
Sunshine on our skin and in your hair
Your hand on my bald head but you don’t care
Tenderly rubbing sun block and a kiss
On top of my head like a holy bliss
But God I’m happy that you’ve seen
how handsome I was at seventeen

Medical Science
Here I sit again once more
Another doctor visit today,
More lab work and tests
I just want the pain to go away.
One doctor says its this
Another says its something new,
I'm still left without any answers
While over the weeks my pain grew.
Is this all such a mystery
Are things really so complicated,
Tell me when i'll find this out
Will the pains to the results be related.
Many have faith in medicine
Say doctor's were made by man,
Why do they take their precious time
This is something I'll never understand.
I'm finally in an axam room
Told the doctor will come in a bit,
If i wasnt in so much pain right now
I'd walk out and say forget it.

Swallow Your Pride
you life,
is so far ahead
but your strife
is now dead
you want,
now to step aside
but it haunts
to swallow your pride
let it be free
let it all see
that the truth is into the sea
you just reprise
that it may be unwise
this is somthing you dont want to be
so swallow your pride
just swallow your pride
and dont let it hurt inside
let your pain go
let it go slow
and then you just wont know
now give it a try.......Swallow your pride!!!

The Medicine Man
mom, there are women
seeing dad in his office
to make me worry
that he might leave us someday
‘cause he comes home late
almost every other day
why you hardly check his joy?!
