Ode to a Goldfish

Have you ever sat while deep in thought,
on a brand new toilet seat that you just bought?
Maybe you wondered and felt despair,
about that poor little goldfish you flushed down there.

Was he dead or just fast asleep?
Could he make the ocean in his final leap?
It’s truly a mystery we may never know.
Now I’m wondering how far one could go.

Maybe a GPS tracker tucked in with a twig.
Would he continue to grow, would he get really big?
I sit here and wonder with time to waste.
Is this poem a beauty, or simply bad taste.

the goldfish

the goldfish
looks out
at the distorted world
through a glass bowl
and tries to make sense of it

he watches the room about him
and those that feed him
with self satisfaction
unknowingly waiting for death
and a burial at sea

My Goldfish

My goldfish Finster Darcy
Speaks English but not Farsi
He has an education
And moral reputation
He does kung-fu better than you
He's such an inspiration.

A Goldfish Asks

All goldfish are consigned
to square glass houses and confined.
But some are mentally refined
and intellectually inclined
to question with an open mind:

Is aqua-space combined
with outer space or intertwined?
And if so, can it be defined?
More to the point, who designed
this aqua-space, and is he benign?
Or is it just a fishment of the mind?
