Vicar of Bray
There was a dear Vicar of Bray,
Fell out of his pulpit one day.
Jumping up, said I’m fine,
Too much Communion wine,
That inebriated Vicar of Bray.

Conjectures of a Taoist Witch
She seemed a Taoist witch to me,
with nature free
for spirited unkind restraints.
Surprise, then, follows her response,
"Of course I recognize Jesus as son of FatherSun
and further,
celebrate His good news
that God's creative nature remains in an evolving,
extending soulful EarthTribe way,
pregnant with healthy sons and daughters
each divinely humane,
at least potentially in time's bodhisattva fullness,
our healthiest wealth wu wei."
Not sure this sounds quite wrong enough
to provoke my evangelical supremacy,
I can only laugh with such rich pregnancy
inside a less domesticated GodHead.

An Amusing Music Muse
I suspect I'm more interested in how Sondheim writes music
than the Beatles,
Although I have no information
to support this paltry hypothesis
Much less could I justify to patient well-versed you
why I also suspect
this tells me something about who I am
And vocationally about who I am meant to be
as a gospel communicating person,
a transporting soul
sharing sung enchantments.
Does linguistic content
inform mystery's melodic message?
Or do melody and rhythm reign
before shaping
unfolding
ecological
psychological
theological lyrics?
Or all of these sacred ingredient voices
speaking with secular integrity
Above?
Deep love learning below

The Lost Gospel
What is missing from
the Bible is humor –
I think a Gospel owed:
Sense of humor our sixth
and best sense, our strength
as the others fail – keeps
the blood letting from getting
pale, keeps our puppy
wagging his tail.

David And Goliath
David was advised by his kin
the sling's the thing
if you want to win
tho' small as he was
without fear
he did let fly
and rocked Goliath's world
right between the eyes
before he had time
to come near
or even throw his spear
alone from afar David did fling
and with a single stone's throw
he let go one shot to the head
and brought the giant down
yea verily knocked him stone-cold dead
