Packin' Heat

Packin’ Heat
Dr. James E. Martin
©January, 2014

The lady is packin’ heat.
No longer will she be beat.
Her mind is resolved,
She’ll be involved,
Don’t think she’ll ever retreat.

A Heat Wave Hits the North

Heat Wave Hits the North

By Elton Camp

Heat makes the Yankees scream and shout
But they don’t know what weather’s about

For those people, who in the South reside
It can be unpleasantly hot and humid outside

But that’s the reason air conditioning is made
It’s not enough to sip mint julep in the shade

But in winter when Yankees slip and slide
Our weather is often still pleasant outside

So a northern heat wave makes me sneer
Just wait—they have even worse to fear

Living in the North is a terrible plight
On balance, our weather is a delight

So, before a fan you Yankees must sit
Wait to see how hot it’s gonna get

Heat...No Heat

Backyard swimming pool

             was a cooling treat haven,

                 lonely under clouds...

In Heat

Meow,
She’s on the prowl,
Chupacabre in heat,
She’s feelin’ the beat.

Heat of the Day

Smoldering in the shade
fatigue overwhelms in waves
Soaked by your own sweat
coolness you can't forget
Dying in the heat of the day
wishing the sun would go away

Skies never so blue
not a cloud to shadow you
Water warm but accept
all you thrist is for wet
It's only mid day
into the horizon hot blaze

Death Valley is not what you feel
it would be cooler in August's hell
Who made this heat everyday
when will it go away
Driving you reach the exit
finally your leaving summer in Texas

August Heat

August’s coming to bring extreme heat
It even burns the bottom of my feet
Need ice packs just to cool down
I start taking it around
To show that the heat has reached its peak

In the Heat of the Moment

In the heat of the moment you lost your dear friend
With that mean, nasty e-mail you weren't gonna send
You're so quick-tempered and course
Four wives filed for divorce
Your heated moments tore ties which won't mend

Snow in the heat

The sun was up, what bright sunny day!
A rabbit with a snowboard on its way.
A daydreamer, lost in a song
singing its tunes, all along.
Till it realized the heat of May.

Lower the Heat, Turn Off the Lights

Every dollar that I spend
Is one less for you in the end
Think about that concept friend
It's not that hard to comprehend

Heat My Enemy

Heat! Heat, my enemy; this too I learn.
Why yea, such burden on my back do lay,
Yea bronze my skin, damn sun, my neck yea burn.
My enemy –Hot August sun -hot day.
Does' come late September days concern
Bring for me your sweet eastern winds, I pray.
And October cool as leaves do fall -return!
Fill this sky not with burning sun, but gray.
Bring to me a sky, which clouds for shade.
My condition air, -Down, my thermostat
Cool breeze blow, me yea kind relief unpaid.
Fear creeps on me; sun to hot to be that-
My cool to keep. Hope, Faith or Charity
My electric bill, this week pay for me.

Turn the Heat Up

When you're not home
I turn all the lights on
and leave them on
I turn the heat up so I'm toasty
I order out every night
I clean out the freezer and throw everything away.
I empty out the plastic silverware in the back of the kitchen drawers
the chopsticks
the bits and pieces of things you save
but you wont miss

when you're not home
I hog the bed
I dont fold the laundry
I dont even do any
I don't clean up after myself
although I might wipe a counter.
I eat salad standing up
I let the dog on the bed
I sleep past the alarm
I buy my lunch
I'm totally
joyously
irresponsible.
(its all true)

The Heat

The heat wave is scorching hot
It steams like a heating pot
My hair was real wet
I looked like a pet
Whose hair was one giant knot
