A Zulu Warrior

Do you sometimes see a Zulu Warrior Staring back from the mirror in the morning! A nasty fierce looking bad tempered dude Obscenities flying out without warning Crabbing bout having to make a living But enjoying all the many accoutrements If it wasn't that, it'd be something else People just love to complain and vent A shower and shave, you're almost human Not one person will ever suspect That a member of the Zulu Warriors tribe Was a coworker of great respect Do you sometimes see a Zulu Warrior Staring back from the mirror in the morning! © Jack Ellison 2012

Mirror, Mirror On the Wall

There's the mirror we look at
    to pick at spots,
The mirror we dress by,
    to see the lot,
The one to cream and
    shade the eyes,
The one to try out
    feigned surprise,
The one that travels
    and shows fatigue,
(Your eyes have circles,
    your teeth are green.)
But the truest vision
    of ups and downs,
Of sideways bulges
    and hairdo clowns
Is the one that hits you
    with dismay,
The shop front window
    on a sunny day!

Walk

A bulging extremity,

a feminist integrity,

a swaggering centipede,

the cops arresting me,

my dick the right size,

the bang coming out of your eye's,

the sensitivity upon demise,

the dew and dripping from the sky's,

the eagerness of eloping,

the magnitude of doping,

the honesty of groping,

scattering scorpions glowing and scoping.

Thanksgiving In the Mirror

With "plenty" this culture's endowed
Bad outcomes are never allowed!
But nature's stealthy
And notes for the wealthy
Silver linings come with a cloud

Mirror Mirror

Mirror Mirror

Mirror, mirror, she asked, "who is fairest?"
Said a maiden who felt like the rarest
Mirror answered unkindly
Maiden struck at it blindly
Now her image, is cracked and embarassed.

Miserable

There are times some mat be some what miserable

To me my life isn't bad enough to say it is terrible,

I am happy and blessed with my whole world

Those whom are not happy always live in turmoil,

Misery loves company they always say

yes it is sad that others do feel this way,

My heart goes out to those but, they have to be the ones wanting to change

The negativity they have in their souls needs to be rearranged.

The Old Shaggy Yellow Spotted Dog

the old shaggy yellow spotted dog
ran quickly around the drawing room
chasing a long tale

until it spotted itself
in a mirror on the wall
and was amazed

by how old it is looking
and how quickly
time passes

remembering its youth
it laid down in a cradle in the woom
and cried

Mirror, Mirror -

Mirror mirror on the wall,
why are all my clothes too small?
Please mask my cellulite and fat profusion,
with the magic of optical delusion.

Narcissus and the Carp, a Tanka

narcissus, the pond
across the surface ripples
disillusionment
dead in the water, floating
not so koi now, bloated carp

Monkeys In the Mirror

Monkeys stare through cages at the zoo
Picking teeth, scratching each other too
But who are we to cast aspersions
We each have our primate reversions
Reflecting us, monkeys see – monkeys do

Afraid of a Mirror

Afraid of a mirror
that daunts you with horror?
What's your fear
of not looking
and admitting
you have a funny ear?

Fretted to look into a mirror
that won't suggest
the word " Beauty? "
I anticipate your anger
and unpleasant words that
won't change reality!

Afraid of a mirror
that hangs on your bathroom wall?
Make believe it's a crystal ball...
don't create useless terror!

Not everyone is
born beautiful and healthy
and has a perfect body...
why blame it on your genes?
Be beautiful in your own way,
enjoy your spotlight and shine today!

My Mirror Grinned

My mirror grinned at my first grey
With rearing youth, it’s my first fray
Disturbed, with care I plucked that bane
Next day to find one more, again
I cried and sighed and went astray

That’s how began my darkest day
With whitest hair and day by day
At deepening my fear and pain
My mirror grinned

With no concern at my dismay
Went on my hair, to well betray
With more and more albescent strains;
Until one day remarked Miss Jane
I looked smarter with that new grey!
My mirror grinned

This Side of the Mirror

This Side of the Mirror I feel lost within the mirror’s eyes Those charming narcissistic pools As vast and blue as endless skies Glittering like two polished jewels As I look deep within those gems I recollect such secret woes Held trapped inside my lover’s skin Is such a torture none should know Drowned deep within the vainest vice An honest pain baptized this soul Although it seems that dreams are nice When unachieved they take a toll I can not hold, my love, so dear Or press their lips upon my own And even, could, I hold them near The truth remains, I am alone

The Narcissist

Me a bush stone curlew,
And this is my fond view—
There's none whoso like me
In all space, land and sea,
An if one does exist,
Bird it be, be it beast,
Reflection of mine is,
And oh dear, I love this--
A curlew of rare hue!

A bush stone curlew, a bird, spent hours staring at its own reflection as shown in a video that became instantly viral. The bird became instant star as well. Now, if this bird had a poetic bent of mind, it might have penned a little ditty like this.

Lipstick On Mirror

Joe puts his name on mirror with lipstick
So that in the morning, geez,
He doesn't waste so much time recalling
Who he is.

The Mirror of Stupidity

People love to believe stupid things. Some of us find it hard to believe stupid things and laugh at those who do, until someone laughs at us for something we believe and somehow didn't realize was stupid.

True Reflection

TRUE REFLECTION Mirror, mirror on the wall I know you're always truthful but I wish you could show me all, to view what will be ahead rather then leave me in the dark instead. Every day I look at you I can't believe that reflection is really true. Well, I know you don't fool but every morning must you be so cruel? Where is the time when you made me look so fine? Now I should accept what I see because the older I get the more painful it will be. I like to see what the future will bring when I'm called up, will I get my wings? Now tell me mirror, mirror on the wall, is it true, that seven years of bad luck will follow me after I smash you?

Mirror Mystery

This morning I looked in the mirror
And experienced a curious sight.
The old man looking back at me
Had his left hand on his right.

If left is right and right is left,
Why is not up-side down?
I suppose it would be too difficult
To smile when we wanted to frown!??.

I Am Bored With Mirror

Bored with the mirror
reflecting same face,
nothing more or less
without System Error(500)!

Bored with those eyes
teasing my behaviour,
naughty as they are
without a surprise!

Bored with those lips
'se_y' someone told,
always too much bold
and ready for a kiss!

Bored with the nose
hill above the sea,
always ahead of me
mimicking my pose!

Myself or mirror
who is the culprit,
let's now fix it
whose boredom is more!

The Mirror

Mirror mirror on the wall
I don't know me at all

Whose face is that I see
What--you say it's me

Mirror mirror on the wall
Can you happen to recall

Why my face changed it's form
It is way beyond the norm

Mirror mirror on the wall
give me an answer do not stall

I asked you a question -tell me no lies
Why am I in total disquise

Mirror mirror on the wall
Now be a real nice doll

Change me back to who I am
My reflection is just a scam

Mirror mirror on the wall
Reverse it all.

Mirror

I have no thoughts of a mirror
must allow my brain to think
to give it purpose to write a poem
thoughts and mind must interlink

To find reason or cause
for every reflection, I have seen
from a skin of pink to a skin of gray
and the changes in between

I know there will be those
who'll write a metaphor or two
a philosophical take on the theme
from illusions, their mirror reflects so true

I've never thought or dreamed of mirrors
only reflections on a lake
where I sit to write this poem
and share my final take

The Person In the Victorian Mirror

The person in the Victorian mirror
Is getting fat and bald
Spots appear
Where there was once perfection
Inches of height disappear
From those on the drivers license

He has gone from someone
To someone else
Approaching no one

Hunched over
And shuffling somewhat
When he walks
He dresses up in his finest old cloths
Each dark night
And goes out
Hoping to get laid

Feelings of Mirror

I am Mr.Mirror
Who show your horror,
Face of your.

I am really sad,
To show your mad,
Face,it looks very bad.

For each situation
You change your face motion
Oh!, it's not a fiction.

You change your face
Like masks with pace,
Yes,you already forget peace

Now you search others pockets,
If there no money packets,
You throw them like paper rockets,

I know there was a time,
People was on cloud nine,
Also looked very fine.

Oh! Now you destroy the world,
I can't say with a word,
My dear Lord...........

There will be an end,
If you don't trust others mind
Please love others like your friend

Days of cuddling

Through days of cuddling,
Lovers share sweet whispers,
Smiles bright as flowers,
Joy beyond all measure.

But hearts can't always,
Stay unblemished and free,
When storms may batter,
With sadness and grief.

But through the testing,
Love can prove its worth,
And blossom stronger,
Beyond the storm's girth.

Mirror Call

They say at the Bishop's estate
Was butter and bread on a plate
In the blink of an eye
It became apple pie
And that's how the Bishop gained weight . . . .
