Better Names for an Octopus
A better name for an octopus?
It's tough to make stuff up.
We could start with a brand-new appellation.
How about a name like "Suction Pup"?!
Or perhaps we could start the debate
with a numerical tag like "Ocean's Eight".
Another name open for discussion
would be a handle like "Squid's Cousin".
Still another, somewhat grandiloquent,
could be the rather pompous "Inknificent".
My Scottish friends, with joy, will weep
if the new label is "Bagpipes of the Deep"!
Or one can almost hear sailors shout "Ahoy!
Is that a rock? No, it's an Ol' Tangly Boy!"

Arms Like An Octopus
In spite of his charm and stunning good looks
Been accused by the fuzz of being a crook
Stole the hearts of young girlies
With his humour quite earthy
He had more arms than an ruddy octopus

Ollie the Octopus
Ollie the Octopus with his 9 brains
Broke his 3 hearts in a quick poker game
The blue blood that ran straight to his heart
Suddenly stopped before it could start
It didn't take long before he withered and died
And Ollie the octopus waved us goodbye

The Octopus Loan Company
The Octopus Loan Company
By Elton Camp
The loan company name fits, if truth be told
For an octopus has eight arms to grasp & hold
And when an octopus gets a grip on his prey
It finds it can't escape--there is simply no way
The octopus will squeeze the victim's life out
No matter how much it will struggle and shout
Octopus loans, to be helpful puts on a facade
All its customers to take out a loan it will prod
It takes a while for the borrower to learn why
When his debt begins to alarmingly multiply
The day he came in, the customer will hate
When he see the increase in the interest rate
And there is no way that he can get away free
For his wages they won't hesitate to garnishee

The Octopus and the Gerbil
The octopus sometimes forgets
Its suckers when gerbils it pets.
It sticks to its arm,
Then falls, to some harm,
Which both of them deeply regrets.
