Potato

mass of flesh
                                         covered by grey skin
                                             with small eyes

                                             kitchen queen
                                              of vegetables

Its Time To Talk Potato

Ok, it’s time to talk potato
One of nature’s finest
Within the vegetable kingdom
Considered….His Royal Highness

A versatile, varied vegetable
Available and loved by most
So many different purposes in life
Like chips, mash , and roast

A solid ,decent vegetable
Affectionately known as “Spud”
From humble beginnings
Grown and born in natures mud!

If Spuds eyes sadly look at you
His body is now weak and old
It’s time to say your goodbyes
And let your poor Spud go!

It is now time to honour our wonderful Spud
So please raise your glass and join me in a toast
“To Spud for ever providing us”
With chips, mash and roast!!!

Kitty Couch Potato

I just saw this cute couch potato
An old kitty with no up and go
He just sits and grows 'round
with large belly profound
While enjoying his best TV show

Laying low with his back legs astride
Tail beneath to protect his backside
Oh, how comfy is he
This old cat retiree
Who now basks in the good life with pride!

Tinned Potato Syndrome

Great store cupboard standby
I'm sure,but tinned potatos,
It doesn't matter what you do with them,
They always taste the same,
Boiled,fried,roast,
Sprinkled with cheddar cheese,
Covered with curry sauce,
They still taste like
Tinned potatos.
There must be other food
That suffers from this syndrome,
Can you name one?

Potato

This potato today I sat down to eat
Was not the spud I expected to meet
It seemed to be a tad bit dry
A red one it seemed it each of its eye
I couldn't quite tell how it was cooked
With a rumbling tum, closer I looked
Lightly seasoned with oregano
Was it mashed? Then I realized, no
I thought briefly, potato salad?
That theory didn't seem too valid
Between the beans and it, there was a void
As if my potato was being paranoid
Then I thought maybe it was roasted
Looking closer I see it was toasted
It snickered as my belly ached
Turns out this potato was very baked

The Plump Potato

A plump potato- I don't want to be!
This poster clearly shows an image, grim-
with chubby one on left looking like me-
on right, a perfect french fry, thin and trim!

This poster clearly shows an image, grim-
revealing how I'd be compared to now;
on right, a perfect french fry, thin and trim!
My goal- to let them pare me down- I vow!

Revealing how I'd be compared to now-
with chubby one on left looking like me;
my goal- to let them pare me down- I vow
a plump potato- I don't want to be!

Poor Potato

Supper tonight was really a mess,
the microwave cooked my potato,
twenty minutes, no less.
Smoke was billowing, from behind my back,
I sat there eating, wondering why the room was
turning black.
Then I remembered that potato all alone,
I opened that microwave, and my potato was gone.
Nothing but the peeling, and it was hard,
now that potato is a possums supper out in the yard.

The Couch Potato

              Cat hanging off couch.
I, sitting here and do slouch.
              Stomach, a fat pouch.

Like a Hot Potato, They Pass the Buck

      The old ‘Pass-Punt-Kick’ contest
        misappropriated by politicos
     You’re familiar with the stereotype
the kind who check which way the wind blows

Like a hot potato they pass the buck
If asked a tough question, they punt
And when a financial decision looms, they
kick the can years down the road

So, fans, it seems we have a winner
535 Congressmen, each and every one a sinner
