A Lifetime Tradition

Grandfather relaxed
While I cleaned his grimed toenails—
He was a tugboat captain.
It was tradition,
As soon as he fell asleep,
I painted his toenails red.

Sedoka Contest-Where's the Picasso

Where’s the Picasso
I don’t know where you hung it
Or is it under the bed?

Well it was below
And just like the Van Gogh, it
Is now hanging in the shed

Now you’ve gone too far
Tell me you left the Leo
Plus our best Dali collage

Well, since the Renoir
Has a gigantic ego
They are both in the garage

Text

i receive a text—
the battery is dying
and the phone is flashing red
you wait patiently
on the other side of earth
for the sweet return reply

i drive up the road
nervous and urged to write you
in anguish the light flashes
you lie down in bed
and wait for that stupid text
does he not care about me?

up the speedy road
defeated, I pick up phone
oh! defeated for real now
you smile deep and tell yourself
he is just in the shower

no, i am gone now
i have left the wretched car
that killed me and a family
i am in your room
watching you wait for your text
plug that damn phone in, will you?

Sound Support

When you laugh, the world

Will laugh with you, and when you

Cry, the world will cry with you.

                    It is safe to say,

When you sleep, and you snore, the

World will let you sleep alone.

Truth Behind the Movie Groundhog Day

"THE whole truth and nothing but the truth" My wife Abby loves And loves again and again To watch a good show over And over again Once the movie groundhog day Was our constantly viewed show We saw it day in Day out, seen once and again Each day for thirty days straight Keeping track of days Watching a movie about Living days over, over A constant barrage Of going each day to day Repeating itself singly Over and over The movie plays by Abby Hope I keep my sanity

Her Teeth

Her teeth are like stars
They always come out at night
A striking appearance change

Removed to afford
Comfort and a restful sleep
Clean as a whistle next day

Inertia

He sits there stone-still, eyes closed. "The world's still turning, Husband! When will you arise?" What is this state called? He says it’s meditation, but I think it’s inertia.

Sad Sock

forgotten sad sock
somewhere tumbling and static
in the dark abyss of lost
pulled through a black hole
sorted by alien race
reborn as one of triplets
