Growing Together

After six months of living with you
I found it amazing how we grew
As the passion seemed to fade
The worst signs of this charade
Were the clothes I couldn’t fit into

Lovemaking’s a form of exercise
And then when it stopped, what a surprise
I asked you if I looked fat
You said, “There’s no truth in that”
As you consumed even more French fries

But the doctor’s scale would tell no lies
Some 25 pounds my weight did rise
     Still you refused to believe
     Just continued to deceive
Till friends noted YOUR increasing size

Today

Today,
I love you.
Today,
I hate you.
This week,
I love you,
This week,
I hate you.
Can this go on,
it has for years.
This love hate relationship,
is now over.
I am kicking you to the curb,
to the trash can you must go.
Did you figure me out,
I am your bathroom scale.
Hooray~you are gone.

In Marked Territory

The very hot summer is coming to a close, fresh cool weather is in the air. I love my walks on autumn days, it puts a giddy up in my steps. Off to the pretty park we will go, looking for the In Marked Territory area. The grass seems much greener, with a very deep rich smell. Open the gate quickly before I let loose, a fun doggie park is the way to go.

Shopping Together

SHOPPING TOGETHER

We went to the wood shop together
To select for the job the right timber -
Ooh, - laths, two-by-ones, maybe plywood ?
She was unmoved - finished, unfinished, one-side-good ?
Mmmm, - beech or oak or pine?
See the fine line and polished shine ?
She felt little emotion for my dowelling,
Any more than paper towelling.
She heard no timbre in struck timber,
No note she could remember :
It sent her to slumber
To encumber her mind with lumber -
It was all so much mumbo jumbo.
Standing with arms akimbo
No matter where she stood
It was just wood, wood, wood, wood.

Take Good Care of Your Egg

Aww, a blanket of men
With 18 hands
And happy feet
Around me stands

By smokey fires
Like a hippy
And keep me warm
When it gets nippy

Deep inside the penguin pile
Absorbing love, burrow and smile
18 arms and 18 legs
8 men and one happy egg :-)

You's and Me's

It’s not “I’ll do what I can”,
That defines for women, her man
   Nor his strength
   Nor hair length.
It’s the “you’s” ... not me’s” ... of his plan

All Together

He tried for what seemed like forever
To finally get it all together.
The more he tried,
The more he cried.
Now he'll be content with never.

Put It All Together

Arrangements of words can exist
So limericks end with a twist
This jolt to the brain
Is the final refrain
Of a punch line not to be missed

Anniversary Poem For My Long Suffering Hubby

Twenty-six years we’ve been married I can’t believe it’s been that long If there was a medal for ‘bravery’ You sure deserve to be awarded a gong! When I wake up in the morning Your face is the first thing that I see But YOU know in my wildest dreams I’d prefer it was that hunk George Clooney! Dedicated to my hubby on our anniversary which is actually on 22nd June although one year I had put it on the calendar incorrectly as 20th June so if I post it on soup on 21st I am pretty close to both dates! 06-21-17

Heart Vs Thoughts

Heart and thoughts like a bull cart,
To walk together straight,

Behave like an enemy my thoughts,

Reminding the one did depart,
Pinning my heart!

Stuck Together

Stuck Together

I often told tales as well as tattle
So thought that I should skedaddle
Lying is like sandwich with peanut butter
Which became a disaster which is utter

Peanut butter was pretty sticky
And you know me being so picky
Seems so many storms had to weather
When both of her lips were stuck together.

The Tea and The Bee Limerick Set

How about some delicious tea
I want it with crackers and brie
Honey is very sweet
Better than sweaty feet
I got bit by a yellow bee

That bee just flew far far away
Guess the bee did not want to stay
Brie and sweaty feet smell
All noses turned to gel
Ouch some pain we will need to pay

A Big Bowl of Nuts

Life just aint peaches and cream
But it’s more like a bowl of mixed nuts
They’re all together in a big ol’ bowl
All together through the why’s and buts’

Sometimes you can meet up with people
That is a pecan pie all by them self
Mostly sweet of Corse, but as we all know
They’re nuts in and by them self.

Some people just take and are crazy as all
An overgrown peanut, you see.
Some are so salty, they make you thirsty
But just let them alone; let them be.

One nut can not really judge another
On how nutty the flavor is.
We are all in this bowl of nuts together
And remember what will be just is.

Not Writin a Poem Tonight

I'm not writin a poem tonight
no, the words just won't come.

Count the minutes since we parted ways
even though I know you know
only been a couple days..

No, I'm not writin a poem
my ears so sore from strings
of a mask worn all day
while I worked.

But, just so you know
if I was gonna write
I'd leave out the part about the mask
just write about the wonder
in all moments
we shared.

Wish the words would come
countin those long minutes
'til you're in my arms again
now that would be somethin'.

A Secret

hssss! i will tell a secret
awful! awful!

your heart knew
my secret!

it does not become a secret
because it went and moved

from my heart to your heart
but i hide it

what ?
a secret!

i love you indeed
that i wanted

i wanted
not to tell
your heart

Is Summer Really Over

Is summer over or just cooling down,
days are getting shorter do not make a frown.
Sun time use varies widely,
in many different places.

Do not tell me barbeque time is over,
that will make me want to pee my bedcover.
As BBQ corn does eat,
great with hotdogs and watermelon too.

Tell me it is not so,
no more ice cold sweet tea to drink slow.
Now to make only hot tea,
keeping lips moist not open.

Summer will be back next year,
must I really wait twelve months with no cheer?
Friends gather happily in just,
time for the holidays and not missing the summer.

I Want A Funny

I took my new friend from Mars, to the store not to the bars. He was accompanied by his little green dog, many thought he was a funny looking frog. They messed their little green suits, so no more fresh fruits. A diaper they will need, so they can go home and be freed.

Let's Do The Chicken Splash Together

What are you all quacking about! A little rain never hurt anyone! Let's do the chicken splash together.
No raincoats or umbrellas are needed, just a ducky spirit with attitude. Do not reply if you are afraid to get wet, or if you want to be a bore.
Now for some rain fun! Put your right web foot in, now put your left wed foot in. Back up and do it again. All together we will do the chicken splash, one, two, three, now jump in the puddle.
Is everyone good and wet? Then we did the chicken splash, the ducky way.

Come Shop With Me

Come shop with me
  up and down the aisles
Buying whatever we please

Scurry around slowpokes
  crash into displays
Swerve to avoid kids in the way

No matter the season
  don't need a reason
'May-hem' in April
  a Chinese fire drill

Arrive at the register
  Butt into line ~
Cos' you just broke water
  at 'a most inconvenient time'

So come shop with me
  for moments to treasure
Enjoy one of life's 'guiltiest pleasures'
