there once was a Man from Rangoon

Way up in the sky!
I'm on the tallest building I could find
Where the birds don't fly
I have come up with a new scheme
Just listen before you sigh
Recently I have not had many comments from poems by I
I,m about to jump off this building, screaming
" I Can Fly"!
Half-way down I,ll open the parachute

the next time that I have my hair trimmed
I might just take the plunge and copy his new look
since mine has irrevocably thinned.
One hundred and eighty the price I shall pay
once I have got that cash to hand
my barber says that he can do that price, say,
if he charges me two quid a strand.

Fell on him.
Mother said
He died at sea
When a mine
Struck his ship.
A likely explanation
That served
His widow well
When telling her
husband was
a hero.
