Hope

Don't rush to wash off the sea salt
drying on your skin;
the hopes it carries from other oceans,
those remain yet to be seen.

A Very Windy Day In August

I didn’t want to make a great fuss When Fred sat beside me on the bus A great stink did appear - T’was expelled from his rear I went green and started to cuss I thought it would be indiscreet If I upped and went to swap seat He kept passing out gas From his windy fat *** ... (It’s lucky he can’t smell MY feet!) No idea of his real name.. but this really happened to me on the bus yesterday ... I don't have smelly feet 17th August 2016

Providence

Impregnable soil
Dried roots they toil
Reaching to quench their thirst
Extinguish the fire
Burning up higher
Late summer sun is perverse
Scorching the painting
Left remaining
The Rembrandt of spring created
Panoramic colors
Melt and flutter
As the canvas is slowly cremated
Naturally Mother
Responds to recover
Mindfully saving the pieces
Wisely stitches together
For coming cold weather
A blanket to warm her cold feet with

It's thundering, it's lightning
The old man thinks it's fright'ning!
He crawled under the bed
And bumped his head
And went to sleep instead!

The Eighth Month of August

This Eighth Month of August
By Franklin Price
8/1/2017

This eighth month of August is very august
In the middle of Summer the AC's a must
If you have it in your house, it's working I trust
If not, open you're windows, put up with the dust
Now you're upset and maybe have cussed
Call the repair man he'll get there or bust
He'll soon have it working, you'll be sorry you fussed
Cool down with a cold one or your dry throat will rust

Three Wishes

My first wish is to remain fit and healthy I’ve no desire to be famous or wealthy With good health then you are truly rich I hope my wish does not sound too kitsch! How I wish that my tummy was flat It’s humongous with rolls of pink fat It reminds me of a huge wobbly jelly I’d dearly love to get rid of my belly! My greatest wish is to be a grandma It’s a shame that my son lives so far A grandchild would be a dream come true I could have fun as many grandma's do! The Closet

They say they run in packs
with the mighty unicorn.
The stories bridge the boundary
between faith and Internet p0rn.

Oh, the elusive boyfriend.

I thought I’d hidden one in the closet,
but I rummaged top to bottom
then remembered - argh! -
I lost him last August!

AUGUST ANDY

August Andy
Ate all the candy
That he got in July

All the chocolates, peanuts and taffy
Ate it up all gone, nothing left for October???

Her Wedding

It’s been a funny summer, June
skipped into August and was gone.
How did we miss that afternoon?
It’s been a funny summer. June
just packed her bags. No honeymoon.
The whole production overdrawn,
it’s been one funny summer. June
skipped into August and is gone.

To Whom It May Concern

To all that these my words can reach
The weak, the strong, the poor, the rich
I want to let it known today
That I have met a sunny day

She’s light in all symbolic sense
Brighter than the florescence
She’s perfect beyond reasoning
She needs no other lighting

A day has never been this bright
And I have never seen such light
In all my wandering days on earth
I’ve never met such day from birth

And now, to whom it may concern
I want to no longer pretend
You are to me a sunny day
So call me when you get this bae.

Lenore From Lahore

Summer is the perfect time to explore
and visit Miss Lenore from Lahore
when you come ashore
To Saint Livermore
Check into the hotel Montefiore
If you want to score
with Lenore from Lahore.
Just knock on her door
She will make you roar and sore
And cry for more

Summer Thrills and Chills

The tea party guests were warmly welcomed,
By Frankenstein and his just-married bride.
All their nearest new neighbors had come,
To their quaint estate in the countryside.

The refreshments were utterly delectable,
The cakes and cookies so moist and sweet;
But unease among the guests was detectable,
Lending chills to the golden August heat!

Host and hostess were witty and charming,
But there were stitches upon her forehead;
And the screws in his skull were alarming-
Pale excuses were made ere the guests fled!

Written just for fun, and not for the contest

August Heat

August’s coming to bring extreme heat
It even burns the bottom of my feet
Need ice packs just to cool down
I start taking it around
To show that the heat has reached its peak

No Relief In August

If you think July is bad,
Perhaps you have forgot.
There’s no relief in August.
It’s really just as hot.

Even if you like the heat,
There’s just no celebration.
Unless you care to celebrate,
That most are on vacation.

There’s no relief in August.
You’d think you’re close to fall.
But as you bake the days away,
It’s not that close at all.

Hot does not mean always dry.
Sometimes we’ll get a storm.
But afterwards, the humid air,
Will cause the gnats to swarm.

Counting down the sweltered days,
And hours that we log.
There’s no relief in August.
Those summer days of dog.
