An Ode To Coffee

O, black and potent beverage
each morning that I rise
you give me greater leverage
you make me strong and wise

O, elixir of higher thought
rejuvenate my mind
I percolate you in my pot
through dark beans that I grind

With sugar some would sweeten you
and lighten you with cream
but black and strong will be my brew
like women in my dreams

O, steaming dark deliciousness
please keep me wide awake
and bring me higher consciousness
upon my coffee break

- a Tribute To the Washing Machine -

I received an email today :
"Would you like to join
The Underpants Club"
A new underwear
directly at your door
once a month
(for only 20 bucks)
Did you say once a month?
My mother taught me
Replace after one use - without exception

In the old days
they had not heard of bacteria ...
but changed underpants
at least every other Saturday
When spring came
it was time for laundry
that took place outdoors,
at the creek or the water post
where there was plenty of clean water available
Fleas and lice are nasty
... and itches terribly

A Tribute To a Major Appliance

Dear Fridge, you’re getting up in years. Oh, my! How many now? You must be twenty-five! The dishwasher already I’ve seen die. How ever have YOU managed to survive? Sir Oven also is a hanger-on, But rarely do I spend my time with HIM! I use his stove sometimes to cook upon. Too bad you kitchen things can’t keep me slim! You never rest! I open up your door. The produce you’ve been keeping fresh I see; The cheeses, breads, and butter, even more: Cold casseroles and pizza tempting me! I do not clean you often. That is mean! I ought to prize more my appliance queen.

Olivia Newton John

Olivia Newton John A stunning sex bomb Starred in the film Grease Talk of ‘ those pants’ never cease! I wonder how she managed to dance In skin-tight shiny black satin pants At the sight of her tush All the blokes turned to mush And wanted to begin a romance! For filming she’s sewn into her clothes How she went to the toilet who knows! Her pants sold at an auction in June I bet the purchaser’s over the moon! Humorous Tribute To Three Soupers

Jack the Quatrain King a possible moniker
When it comes to quatrains, he’s an astonisher
With humor and wit he deliver’s his world view
Unfortunately now, he’s part of a silly clerihew

Linda or A Poet Destroyer
I didn’t know poetry had Warriors
I read some poems and she loved to fight
I would just read and think, that aint right

Seren Roberts, a welsh girl, yes she proudly is
Call her English and you prolly won’t here gee whiz
A poet and an artist I know this much is true
But did she write a poem talking about fox poo?

This is all in good humor towards three of my favorite poets here. Hopefully no one gets offended and if they do I’ll be happy to remove this.

A Limerick For Jan

A lovely young lady lives on the Isle of Man She writes bawdy limericks whenever she can She takes a few hits From jealous dimwits Who can’t write them nearly so well as can Jan.

Cute Black Bear

Cute black bear has a perfect behind and her manicured paws are so kind When she sits on a chair all the male bears just stare - her sheer beauty, it just blows their mind! A friend has given me a little black bear as a replacement for the soft toy we used to have in my husband’s car – I hope she lasts as long as our old ‘guard dog’! https://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/farewell_old_friend_888761 05~15~17

Kim

A good friend to us all is our Kim,
Who wears bikinis when off for a swim,
Of course we all dig her,
With her gorgeous figure...
But it’s Jim that Kim is keeping trim.

She's funny, pretty, and smart
Personality off the chart
Supportive, knowledgeable, and kind
Her comments are a treasure to find
She hehe's like a fool
I think she's perfectly cool
You've probably guessed from the clues

The Call Guy Dedicated To Stephen Pennell

Steve works in a call center to earn an honest bob but some days he can't believe the words that flow from some folks gob They cus and curse Then eff and blind - you'd not believe your ears and if he wasn't made of sterner stuff he'd leave the room in tears! I said to him when folks are rude to remember the golden rule Just imagine them sitting in the nude that way you'll keep your cool! So when they rant and scream and shout He thinks of his meager pay but still tries his best to sort them out and ends the call with 'have a nice day'! Cb Tribute Contest 1 - Pfft

Andrea! Gosh darn it! May shame stir your stew!
All five are favorites (yes, even Ms. Loo),
To pick one or the other would make me feel blue,
And long’s been my summer where sorrows accrue.
So PFFFT! to this poem and PFFFT! to you!

Limerick On Valsa George

Valsa is a fairly new poet to PS! I am enjoying getting to know her through her poetry. The limerick is her funny side but she also writes quite seriously.

In lim’rick-land, Valsa digs food. Those eating and drinking - not good. The glutton gets fat. The drunk acrobats. In fairytale end, they all pooed.

Tribute To Jan

There is a quick poet named Jan
Who hails from the Isle of Man
                          Her limericks border
                          on Soup`s law and order
Here`s hoping that Jan is not banned.

Fan of Jan

I`VE BEEN READINGS LIMERICKS BY JAN,
TO EMULATE THE BEST THAT I CAN.
SHE CAN WRITE ABOUT POOH,
STICKY STUFF AND GOO.
WITH THE SAME SENSE OF HUMOUR AS A MAN.

NOW I WILL HAVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT DIRK,
ALWAYS ACTING AND BEING A JERK.
HE WOULD GET OUT HIS WEENUS,
SAYS IT LOOKS LIKE A P*N*S.
YOU CANT HELP BUT LAUGH AT THE BIG BERK.

SO THAT WAS MY LIMERICK FOR JAN,
I EMULATED THE BEST THAT I CAN.
BUT SHES THE LIMERICK QUEEN,
YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
KEEP MAKING US ALL SMILE, PLEASE JAN.

Poot-Toot University

Can't believe I'm penning this mess,
but I must address the gifted poetess,
Jan Allison has a degree from the
distinguished Poot-Toot University,
she has a PhD in Fartology.
An expert she is,
and, gee whiz,
anyone who writes of farts
so funnily,
is the "Queen of Flatulence,"
a PoetrySoup decree!

And yes, I know some are offended
by potty humor,
but we need comic relief in
the literary til we laugh ourselves
into a stupor,
as this world has much strife,
even if it's gaseous,
laughter heals life. ~

Christina

Once a muse named Christina
who had the wisdom of Athena
	made a suggestion
	sage without question
and I followed into that arena

she recommended that I write
‘bout fairy tale characters with bite
	now there are many
	to choose aplenty
I’ll be writing late into the night

Although Christina does not know it
she's turned me to a kind of poet
	who can be silly
	write willy nilly
and be careful that I don't blow it!

Attila the Hun

Attila the Hun was a kindly old soul He raped and plundered the land With the aid of his murderous henchmen all A truly psychotic man The kind of man you'd like as a friend If you love to ransack and pillage Hitler was another of these murderous souls Marauding each town and village Need more of the likes of Benito Mussolini Such honourable leaders all But I harken back to Attila the Hun His exploits leave me enthralled May seem like I've tumbled over the edge But I blame it on dear Eileen Ghali She poked and prodded me into submission Could no longer dilly and dally © Jack Ellison 2013 Dedicated to my dear good friend Eileen Ghali!
